About

Eliana graduated from the University of Manchester, with a first-class degree in English and Drama. She then completed her MFA in dramatic writing at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, with merit.

Eliana’s most recent play ‘Anything With a Pulse’, enjoyed a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe before transferring to The Park Theatre for two further sell-out runs. It was described as ‘A witty hang-on-to-your-hormones tour of modern dating’ The Times ★ ★ ★ ★ and ‘Punchy and warm. As endearing as any Richard Curtis rom-com’ The Stage ★ ★ ★ ★.

Eliana’s debut play, ‘Open Road’ was transferred to the King’s Head Theatre after a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017.


Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home is a tale of a twenty-something woman who escapes the pressures of modern life by moving into a retirement home.

Home Sweet Home was longlisted for the Masterclass Pitch Your Play Award.

Anything With a Pulse

An anti-love story about the perils of modern dating.

Written and directed by Eliana Ostro

Anything With a Pulse had a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, transferred to the Park Theatre as their Pick of the Fringe in 2019, and then returned to the Park for a second run in 2022.

A man and a woman meet in a club.

Spotting each other from across the dance floor, they hit it off. Their story should be simple enough. But in a world where we hide behind games and personas, it doesn’t always play out like that.

He tries to fit in with his macho group of friends – ‘some of the biggest dickheads to grace this planet’. And she is torn between feeling comfortable with the unexciting ‘nice guy’, or facing the games and pretences of modern dating.
